The Work From Home Sportive is a real midweek summer treat for with 3 routes around the scenic Surrey Hills featuring enough challenging terrain for all levels of sportive riders. The venue for this event is Denbies, Nr Dorking, which nestles in the shadow of Boxhill and is within easy reach of main transport links and featuring all the facilities needed for a top day out on the bike. The three routes, Epic at 61 miles, Standard at 30 miles and the Short at 14 miles, all head for the iconic zig-zags of the Olympic road course which winds its way up Boxhill to the stunning viewpoint. There might be time for a breather here to admire the view, before heading in a scenic loop to the climb onto Ranmore. Now it's time for the Short route riders to head down to Dorking and back to the Venue whilst Epic and Standard riders head across Ranmore taking in the gentle rolling terrain in an area of outstanding natural beauty. After passing through the pretty village of Shere the route splits again with the Standard riders heading for Peaslake, whilst the Epic riders head further south into the Sussex Weald passing through villages and market towns before a well earned Feed Station stop at Ellens Green. Refuel well here as it starts getting tougher from here on in! The epic climb of Norbury Hill will show the riders what the Surrey Hills has to offer in the way of pain inducing ascents before the gentle sweeping descent to the quaint village of Peaslake allows the riders to get their breath (and legs!) back. After rejoining the Standard route riders, a loop back south brings riders to the Feed Station at Forest Green and a chance to restock on essential supplies before the assault on Leith Hill, a long and steep climb which can seem to be never ending....dig deep here and the reward is worth it as the riders pass over the top of the highest point in Surrey. A few miles of rolling descent follow before the main climb of the day, the fearsome Whitedowns... everything you have heard about this climb is true but fortune favours the brave and the right attitude will see riders conquer both the hill and their inner demons. From here it is a gentle return along Ranmore before dropping back down to the venue where you will get your finishers T shirt, Medal and Free PowerBar Protein Bar. Refreshments and Massages will also be available. Take some time out in the sun to savour the experience of riding in this beautiful area and congratulate yourself on a job well done! - See more at: http://www.ukcyclingevents.co.uk/events/wiggle-work-from-home-sportive/?...
