For the first time we bring the No Excuses ride to Scotland, so there’s no excuse not to hop north of the border and get pedalling amid the heather-flecked hills of God’s own country, especially when you take into account you can ride for free!
That's right. Everyone who enters either the £35 Epic or Standard routes and turns up on the day will receive a full refund after the event. For those who enter and don't turn up, that money gets donated to charity. If you do ride the event and would rather your entry fee go to a good cause, feel free to let us know.
The eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed a "Half an Excuse" entry option as well. This price tier is for those who want to secure a place in this sell-out event, but are unsure if they will make it on the day. This entry fee will not be refunded regardless if you turn up on the day or not but at least it's only half the normal fee, so no shows won't lose out as much. Those who do turn up having entered the Half an Excuse routes get to ride an awesome event for half the price. Terms and conditions can be found below.
Starting out from The Bairns, the home of Falkirk Football Club, we head west, traversing the town and skirting the edge of Callendar Park. After climbing out of Falkirk, both Epic or Standard routes turn south towards Black Loch.
Just after Caldercruix, we turn left to ride along the southern edge of Hillend Reservoir. Sticking on this easterly bearing for five miles we eventually turn right at Blackridge and after a quick stint heading south, the route splits again at Harthill with Standard riders branching off to the east and those riding the Epic route staying the course and heading west. After winding our way around the town of Shotts we subsequently meet the southernmost point of the ride at Torbothie, and from here the journey north to rejoin the Standard course begins.
The road north back to Falkirk is an undulating affair taking in Armadale and Avonbridge before reaching the southern boundaries of Callendar Park, and finally a circumnavigation of the city ensues as we make our way back to the football stadium.
