Turweston Aerodrome, Biddlesden Road, Westbury, Brackley, NN13 5YD
Epic Route: 80miles
Standard Route: 55miles
Short Route: 26miles
This is a sportive of two halves – for Standard and Epic riders, at least. Those taking part in the longer ride will take in both parts on an afternoon spent on the best rolling roads in Northamptonshire. The route is typical of the county – without too many climbing challenges, while taking in stunning villages lined with limestone houses and elegant churches, as well as a number of other prominent sights.
Beginning at Turweston Aerodrome, Westbury, the route heads out to explore the brilliant surrounding countryside by taking in fast and technical back lanes around Shalstone, Dadford and Abthorpe, before skirting around Towcester and moving north towards the first feed stop of the day.
The sportive has one climb to challenge you – and this will come later on. For now, you can enjoy the area’s swooping countryside as short and sharp climbs are met with rewarding descent action. As you cruise through the rural roads, you’ll be able to enjoy views around Farnborough Park, Burton Country Park, Litchborough Park and Boddington Reservoir.

Radar tells me their closing speed, if they are slowing and how far away. Then I decide to say a prayer. The change of light pattern is incidental.
