Dragon Ride L’Etape Wales by le Tour de France is one of the most iconic sportives in the UK, and has been selected by ASO as the perfect representation of the world's most famous cycle event offering the same Tour de France riding experience to UK cyclists.
The South Wales event will once again start from the picturesque Margam Park, Port Talbot, having moved there successfully in 2012.
The Gran Fondo will take in approximately 3,616m of climbing, passing through the beautiful Brecon Beacons and the Medio Fondo approximately 2,405m.
The Dragon Devil will certainly not be for the faint hearted. There will be a very limited numbers of places available for this option, so those who are keen will need to get in quickly. Those lucky enough to get a place will be well rewarded with an incredibly stunning cycling route which will take in the ‘Rhigos’, ‘Black Mountain’ and the ‘Devil’s Elbow’ - the Dragon ride’s signature climbs – with the addition of the ‘Devil’s Staircase’, a climb with a 15% gradient and elevation of 480m.
THE DRAGON TOUR
Dragon slayers now have something even more epic to look forward to in the form of the Dragon Tour. The two or three day Tour event sees 500 cyclists take on a sportive each day, culminating with the Dragon Ride itself on the final day.
