4 transfers for me for today to bring in climbers still in GC and who can TT a bit instead of Sprinters. My team:
Mas
Poels
De la Cruz
Oomen
Jakobsen (Left in for points competition and 5 points in Mas wins?)
Powless
Aru
Brambilla
Had Aru and Brambilla in from the start as cheap GC riders for today (along with Powless). Maybe they'll get some freedom today after losing time?
Gosh, Well set for today Gecko. Powless a much better pick now than yesterday....and De la Cruz. They did well out of that accident.
But at least you're set up Minardi, I'll probably spend 2 transfers on the TT, I used 4 for today's stage. Poels, Oomen, Konrad, and Mas are in.
My team for today -
MAS
POELS
KUNG
ANDERSEN S.K.
BOASSON HAGEN
POGACAR
ANTUNES
MATEOS
I shoud probably have waited untiil tomorrow to bring KUNG in.
Completely mashed my team up. Used up 5 transfers and hope that the climbers/TT guys I bring in can bring me points on the rest of the days. Almost went with a sixth but wanted to leave Demare in as he can TT a bit too. If I hadn't I would have bought Konrad in for him so lets see how that one goes. I suppose it means I wont have much to do for the rest of the race anyway, I might go out for a ride instead.
Lucky you. I have the deep joy of re felting my shed roof...my somewhat rather large shed roof. Pffft.
Who did you bring in Steve?
Poels and Mas and Ooman. my TT favourite and swapped Malucelli for a climbing 3 pointer.
I’ve been looking at that young Pogacar. He’s handily placed but hardly pulled up many trees going up Willungac hill and corkscrew. About 16th both times. He might be a trap. What do you think?...
I considered him but found a guy I liked who is likely to be riding for himself, Pogacar may be working for Aru. well sometimes it pays to be a bit different.
Yes it does.
Mas Poels Oomen Konrad Antunes....Koch Jakobsen Boassen Hagen...
That’s me for today....probably template but safe.
Right....shed time....!!
Stage 2
Skytrain going fast up the fianl climb before Poels attacks in the finale.
I did fancy VanBaarle to do OK in stage 2 & stage 3 and Sky to use him as a 2nd threat on GC. After losing over 1min today he will probably be working tomorrow.
So playing safe and bringing in the 2 best climbers in the race, to go with an ITT specialist. (That was probably a mistake as I could have brought him in tomorrow )
I take it you mean Andersen?...My reason for getting DVB and EBH was that they both together could have got a few points today but mainly because both of those could have matched the need for bringing in either Andersen or Kung on day 3 and then got a few points on stage 4..and save a transfer or two in the process. Today’s mash up puts Andersen in a much better position than he was before. Do you think he makes that climb tomorrow in good shape?..i’m A bit unsure....
Well, having just crunched the numbers, I got more points in my purist than in my standard. 10th in purist though.
Jeez Andy. All those top sprinters and you managed to dodge the winner. Just not your day. It didn’t even turn out to be proper sprint in the end with no trains to speak of so even the ones you had were playing it by ear.
Only had Jakobsen, Ackermann and Poels get across the line in that front group...oddly that might be somewhere around avg maybe...I hope...
Anybody have any access to who may have had to drop out of the race altogether...or who may be damaged beyond repair for now...
Why didn't I get Jakobsen in again?
I think that stage will be neutralised.
If not, it looks like a reace between Mas & Poels with Andersen, Pogacar and Powless as outsiders.
respectfully
Sam Ooman?
Do you think it will be Minardi?....It would seem a bit harsh on those teams that invest a lot of effort keeping their men at the front to avoid such crashes....even that far out. QST are very good at it and got their rewards today.
I notice SKY riders took a tumble but they’d already spent time keeping Poels out of harms way as much as they could by the team riding up front....and they don’t even have a sprinter....not sure how they got caught out in the end though, but Poels remained safe.
So a complete mess. I managed to have Jakobsen as one of my two sprinters in purist but left him out of my standard team. I think I may try a few different things now with the rest of this game.
I have DVB for purist. So his GC prospects might be damaged.
Well that’s made a mess of the race. Groenewegen Degenkold Baarle all floored with about half the race.

My 3.0 hoping he goes for the sprint in my normal team Matias
Went Hirschi as my 3.0 in my Purist
Looked at Alarcon but wasnt convinced by his form so far, so left him out
My purist is -
MAS
GROENEWEGEN
ANDERSEN S.K.
POELS
BOASSEN HAGEN
VAN BAARLE
POGACAR
ANTUNES
I've actally got 8.7 points left but couldn't find a better combination I liked.
My purist is based on a main 4 of Poels, Mas, Ackermann, and Groenewegen. Laporte, Powless, Theuns, and Alarcon make up the numbers, although it's only Laporte and Alarcon I'm happy with.
Standard is massively sprint heavy:
Groenewegen, Ackermann, Demare, Debusschere, Laporte, Philipsen, with Alarcon and Koch making up the numbers.
Very big day for you Andy...could well win the day.
Gone big on sprinters first up. Will kill me later, but get a lead and hold on is the strategy.
Who’ve you gone for Sniffer?...anybody off the beaten track?
If I had to pick a cheap sprinter I would have gone with Koch or Malucelli, maybe De Buyst.
Problem with Malucelli is that Caja Rural may go with Aberasturi.
