Upgrading a groupset bit by bit

Please forgive my ignorance, but...

I currently have Campag Veloce (10-sp) on my bike, and want to upgrade to 11-sp Potenza or Chorus. The thing is, I can not afford to do an entire groupset replacement at the same time, and besides, I just put on a new standard FSA chain set that I really like and have no need to replace.

So my question is: if I start by replacing my shifters and front and rear derailleurs (plus chain and cassette as well, of course!), can I use the FSA brakes that are on the bike already? Or do I have no choice but to change everything at the same time?

Is there anything else I should be aware of as I accumulate parts?

Different brakes by different manufacturers have different pull ratios (how much the mrake moves compared to the brake handle. Some are definitely not compatible. You can probably look up pull ratios on the interweb thingy....

Your chainset should be pretty much interchangeable with any  2x groupset.
