Cycling after pulmonary embolism

I had a DVT (right leg) and a pulmonary embolism two months ago and have started back on the bike and wondered if anyone had any similar experiences.

So, I'm currently trying to keep my heart rate to 150 or below (which is borderline zone 3/4 for me) and don't really worry about speed (I'm averaging 13/14mph) and am basically glued to my heart rate on my GPS.

I haven't gone higher for some time but 165bpm or so has left me gasping for breath (so I really, really try not to go there).

So, any advice as to what to expect or even if I'm crazy to be cycling again gratefully received.

I think it is necessary for you to talk to a medical professional regarding this.

At least speak to your GP, probably best to speak to a specific sports doctor.

Yes, for another four months. I ride with a medical ID.
