Woo hoo. What a great race. I normally do better at purist, but struck lucky with Schachmann and Benoot.

Waiting to hear what the big prize is. Maybe an all expenses paid VIP trip to the tour of flanders...

I fully agree that the race (and the game) have been a welcome distraction from the real world. The inspired/lucky choice of Benoot over Teuns helped me to a decent score in this race and, as we take an extended break, I find myself at the top of the season Standard pile. I really hope that you can get back to knocking me down again in the near future.

Wind, Rain, Crashes, World wide pandemics, Selling TDG before he finally goes on a break...

I love Paris/Nice.

Loved the race.  With the demise of all sport, which is my best distraction when more important things are difficult, it has been something minor to worry about.

Not been my best fantasy race, but finished on a high with the first 6 in this stage.  Might go up a few places.

Yeah, it's a great distraction. My wife is a senior nurse, so she's well and truly in the firing line for this Coronavirus thing, and I have a son with special needs who absolutely can not get this thing. Worrying times....at least Nibali gives me something else to think about.

Bad times, family of 5 self isolating for next two weeks and thats the best of the distractions gone.

What are the ethics of non stop solo rides?

If you don't talk to anyone, how can you catch anything?  Don't go too deep though and compromise your immune system.

Breaking news. Macron has just announced a ban on all gatherings of 100 people with immediate effect. That's tomorrow over and done with then...will they even finish today?

Looks like it.

And Bahrain-Merida quitting early I see.  They must have heard I had both Bilbao and Garcia in for today 2

Teuns for me...fortunately I've not done my transfers yet.

Putting Benoot in as a last minute change now looks inspired. 4

Big drop from 19th > 34th in Paris Nice....pffftt....still 6th overall for now though.

Somehow, in some races, I don't actually seem to be in control...this has been one. Other times I know exactly what I'm going to do two days in advance...Very odd.

Looks like we're getting one more day at least.  Have gone for a sprint finish today, but wouldn't be surprised if TdG or another baroudeur fancied a long raid.  Politt would be a candidate if he wasn't so close on GC.  Jungels?  Calmejane?

Got to be one of the Quick step boys now their main sprinter is out of action. I fancy Ala will have a go for a stage from range on every day that is left....sadly I had to take out Asgreen to balance my team with another sprinter on such an uncertain stage...but he may also have a pop. Dithered on TDG or Hivert but in the end resisted...TDG said he thought this may be the last day when I researched his interviews....and Hivert could just as easily put a team mate in to hoover up pts.

Official site has both Grossschartner and Alaphilippe in 17th, so I'm giving them both 4 points. They must have recoreded the exact same time.

Higuita did well today...he's gonna be a big feature in the TDF if we get to it...

Watching the news...Gonna have to say the Giro isn't looking at all likely now. Pffft.

As for this race..I think Higuita is looking fantastic. I have a few friends who like a flutter and wanted a good outside e/w bet for the TDF. Higuita was my pick for them at 300/1 a few weeks ago...he's now around 100/1-150/1. No ITT at this years tour, apart from the uphill one on stage 20, plays out well for him. He might just split the big favourites the way he's going.

Stuyven quoted as saying that 90% of the peloton think that this race won't get to Nice. Looks bleak all round for cycling this year. It's hard to reconcile managing the spread of a virus with a sport that moves from place to place daily even if you remove spectators from the equation.
Still trying to play the game as if it goes till the end but, as UAE tour showed, it is tempting to use those transfers early!! Who's for  8 TT specialists tomorrow and to hell with the consequences?!

I'd assume the riders will have heard whispers and/or rumours...could be a good gamble with the TT picks.

I'm also assuming we're not getting to Nice this year and playing as many transfers as I feel like each day.

So, guess who dropped Sagan to put in Ackermann? 40

Doh, I'm sure you did right had it not been for the mechanical.

I had high hopes with 5km to go....Bennett, Ewan, Ackermann, Bol, Nizzolo, Stuyven, Schachmann was looking like a golden ticket.

Bigger winds today than yesterday.  I've got too many sprinters for it but I blew three transfers to get back in the game after a first day disaster...anything could happen.

It is a minor point, but it appears that today Pierre Barbier was moved from finishing last on Stage 1 to OTL. Does this change the 10-point bonus for last place finisher to Ackermann instead?
