russyparkin, how do you know these lenses are UV safe? Please don't say it's because there's a sticker that says so! Martin-LeJog's right, whatever your views on getting knock-off gear, surely dodgy lenses and potentially damaged eyes aren't worth the vanity of having people think you've got real Oakleys?

For me its not about having Oakley look a likes. Its about having comfy cycling glasses that don't cost a fortune.

I have real Oakley's for wearing off the bike. But as there is NO mention of Oakley in the ebay listings, nor Oakley's brand name (Jawbone, Radar....etc) They are Replica not counterfeit 3

There's plenty of comfy cycling glasses that don't cost a fortune. why not get some of them? BBB and Bollé spring immediately to mind, there are plenty more.

like withnails says, for someone that spends their life making 'replicas' of oakleys, copying a UV sticker isn't any great shakes.

The reason being, I know that the Oakley's are comfy, I have no knowledge of the others.

But to answer the UV question. I have no idea and don't really care about the UV protection, but I use my genuine lenses in the "replica" frames

I swear by Bolle Bandido clear goggles:

http://www.google.co.uk/webhp?hl=en&tab=ww#q=bolle+bandido&hl=en&prmd=im...

off of ebay or elsewhere. Cheap, and clear because you don't need sunglasses for 90% of the year. No frames just a clear visor so they are not to geeky.

Hmm. Terrible. Fancy condoning this behaviour

I wouldn't ever check out the link, goggle at the prices and order a pair of Radars with polarised lenses for £23.47 including delivery.

That sort of behaviour isn't allowed you know.

Why, I would love to pay 5 times the price for these sunglasses any time.

Worth pointing out that we didn't get in trouble for buying some knock off kit. We reviewed a Chinese knock-off of some of some of our own Quota roadcc race kit, but as it was our kit and we helped design it, and all of the original stuff had long since been sold - we didn't mind. The Chinese version was pretty good too. Some people weren't very happy about it but there you go…

Bloody hell, wish I hadn't seen this, I've just lost my Oakleys and I can't afford another pair!

i have spent over £1000 in the last 5-6 years on real ones. the lookey likeys are great and are uv safe.

oakley prices have rocketed in the last few years. there is literally no justification for the prices. the lense tech and the unobtanium tech havent changed since i bought my first ever pair of oakleys in 1990.

they must piss themselves when people pay £300 for 28g of plastic.

I do have genuine Oakley's. Two pairs of Radar's. With me everything has to be coloured right. So I have a White pair with red rubber and the other pair are Red with black rubber.

To get a genuine pair of Jawbones would set me back around £200 in the colour I want. Just can't justify that.

So a fake pair it is. Then some fake Radar's for certain rides so that I don't damage my real ones as I cannot afford to replace them 3

Just a thought, but I seem to remember some consternation about Road.cc buying a knock-off cycling kit item and that being bad for the sport and supporting criminality in some form or another.

I totally get that people like Oakleys, by far my favourite sunglasses by a long way as well, but i dont see how this is any different than buying a dodgy kit.

Now I dont know where these are made, and it may be the same factories that the genuine ones are made in, but in all likelihood it isn't and therein lies the rub.

dodgy sunglasses are actually bad for you, they might be made from plastics that arent so good so will snap easier but thats never been my issue.

The chances are they zero UV protection and are just making everything darker, thereby opening up the pupil so more UV rays etc and exposing the eyes to more danger.

We all like cool sunglasses, but not at the expense of our eyes surely? if you cant afford genuine Oakleys, either buy something cheaper, or save until you can - they will taste better that way!

I also do not have a set of Jawbones and a set of Radars with 5 (count 'em) 5 changes of lenses including a polarized lens. Both sets did definitely not come with hard cases, bags, cloths, certainly not from this guy

gkam84 - as i said i do NOT have 5 pairs from this seller and they really are not impossible to tell apart. the only issue if i were to have bought some would be 21 days delivery, but i wouldnt know this as i must re-iterate i havent bought many pairs and do not have radars set up with iridium, clear, yellow lenses just to pick out the draw depending on the conditions.

Those photos look like the sort of place where you could get an Orange Mocha Frappuccino. But why is Morrissey helping Evan Davis to pick out sunglasses?

They do not have exactly the same pictures as another seller that I have put into my watch list because they are a bit cheaper 3 That I would never think of buying because they are knockoff........ 19

Ah. Slightly too much partying while wearing contacts a few years ago left me with protein infections and I can't bear to put them in anymore!

Only Bolle have the license to the technology to produce sports specs strong enough for me, but the exclusivity on the patent runs out at the end of this year, so I'm looking forward (hoping?) to seeing Oakley getting in on the act.
