Doing some maintenance on my Fulcrum Quattro lg wheels, when looking at bearings, do you go with Chrome or steel

Get a decent brand bearing such as NTN or SKS.

6309 denotes the size

2RS denotes the seal - https://www.astbearings.com/bearing-closures.html

Search NTN (or SKS) 6309 2RS ABEC 3 (or ABEC 5) and buy the cheapest.

I've never seen chrome plated bearings so assuming they are not which i highly doubt because that would be stupid Chromium steel  is stainless steel.

Won't be chrome-plated, it will be chrome steel alloy. I'm not sure what the difference is, as you say stainless is, well, a chrome steel alloy

I doubt it will matter much, but the chrome steel GCR15  (the cheaper one) seems to be a Chinese grading which might explain the cost difference

PS, this was just from quick googling, not an expert...
