Giant tcr dilema

Hi guys,

First post, I am glad I joined such a great forum.

I bought tcr advanced 1 disc 2021 and I still have an option to pay extra AUS2.1k to swap it with advanced pro 1 disc 2021. Please see links for both bikes below.

Alternatively I can keep the bike and spend extra 2.1k to buy new set of carbon wheels. I would buy deCadence wheels 49mm deep, 1400g heavy. Please see the link below.

Which option would make a better bike overall? Which bike would be lighter?

Your thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Well, the Pro 1 is 'better' - though I suspect that really the question is 'is it worth the difference'.

Unless you're at the pointy end of cycling, I doubt you'd be able to discern the extra few grams that the bar and stem add. For me, the major differences are the wheelset and the inclusion of a (dual sided) power meter.

If you've a mind to upgrade the wheels anyway - and get a power meter down the line - I think it's worth getting the Pro 1 now.

From the spec's it looks like the only difference between the two is the wheelset, so if you can get the wheelset you want for less than the difference in price go for it. Then you will have an ally set for the winter as well as the carbons for the summer.

Thanks mate. Ive also noticed the following differences on pro 1:
- lighter stem, barrs and seatpost
- slightly lighter
- ultegra casette instead of 105,
- prometer
- overdrive 2 steerer (1/4" to 1/2" tapered steerer instead of 1/8 to 1/4)

What are your thoughts? I can upgrade all the above over time apart from overdrive.
