It's a lot like swimming against the current, trying to compete when I can rarely get online on a morning.  Todays setback, Alaphilippe is a DNS. Never mind onward and hopefully upwards, somethings have to take a precedent over fantasy cycling.

Alaphilippe is riding today, going home tonight.

Wondering why so many transferred him out then?

The talk this morning was him not starting today so I removed him. Became clear after the deadline that something was lost in translation and he is stopping tonight..... just cost me about 40 points as I brought Dennis in to replace him (the irony being that if I'd left Alaphilippe in as planned I couldn't afford Dennis so would have dodged the Dennis misfire) Sometimes, less time trawling the internet is a good thing!

So is he definitely not riding Sunday? I'm going to watch the cycling later tonight, hard life I have, trying to fit in three football matches, and four cycling tours in one day is tough. 1

Not sure it's definite but I'll be even more annoyed if he starts tomorrow! It is difficult to fit in all the cycling and football currently but I'm doing a decent job of it.

Cyclingnews reporting that he has left the race to be at the birth of his first child.

The danger of a Danish translation of a Belgian newspaper column? I looked for confirmation elsewhere and couldn't find it. Had already done my transfers so stuck with Ala. Did take on the Dennis misfire. Had a thought that Dumoulin was a good bet, but couldn't fit him in.

Yep fell for that as well. I was not sure but saw he was removed from the betting just before start, was good enough for me! I changed him for Cattaneo, so not a complete disaster...

Head blown.

I was all set to do Woods and Mader > Dennis and Pozzovivo this morning....then panicked when I saw Alaphilippe may not be starting so ended up doing Woods and Mader > Catanneo and Kung for god only knows what reason reason and kept Alaphilippe.

WTF....Where did that TT come from for Mader and why do I still have Alaphilippe....

Any one else tempted to bring Mannion in today? 3 mill and plenty of mountain points on offer. Looks ok in an uphill TT as well.....in the  end a shortage of transfers dissuaded me. I will be following opening climb very nervously now!

My wildcard is Vuillermoz.  I should have saved the transfer for Dennis really but the teams are all too similar I suspect.

Alaphillippe on the attack!  Straight out of the Van der Poel playbook.  Unpredictable cycling is entertaining but a nightmare for fantasy cycling managers.

If I was Inios I'd have Dennis in the break today and surprise everyone.  I guess that's why they win GTs and I'm drinking coffee and getting distracted from work by the cyclingnews ticker. 1

OK,  Alaphilippe has rendered any plan redundant!

Got to love Rigoberto coming good again....something very likeable about him.

I'm still tempted to leave Rigo out and Poels and Benoot in today.  The finish today does suit them both better and either could be allowed in the break. However, it is six points and a potential good finish down the toilet if I wait until tomorrow to put Rigo in if they both let me down again.

I knew Poels was turning into the new "Soler" but it is getting so annoying.

Procrastination or what.  Not long until the deadline!

I also like that he auto translates to Uranium in the Feltet previews!

Powered by nuclear fusion. 1

Good tip about Feltet by the way.  Thanks for that.

Decision made.  Slight sacrifice of being able to bring Dennis in for the TT then out but so be it.

Only change for me was Poels out Uran in.  We all might need a tansfer to remove Schachmann if he is sick.

Fuglsang (my success of yesterday) is Birdsong in Danish. I like that one too.  Porte sometimes comes out as Gates.

Fits like a foot in a hose. 1 Must admit to liking fantay cycling pre Axelgaard, everyone spoon fed nowadays, but it's hard to ignore the article as he is so erudite.

It was you who put me on to Feltet I think.  If I'm honest I rarely differ in what I'm likely to pick from previews apart from for info on the parcour they have helps sometimes.

I have cocked my team up now.  I used 3 transfers today to bring in an extra wildcard (Vuillermoz) along with Uran and Costa but if Schachman is out then I need it (only one left).  I also accidentally clicked on Lucas Hamilton instead of Fuglsang the other night.  I should be more careful on the tablet (I hate touchscreen).  I was lucky Hamilton is going OK, but that will probably cost me later as well unless Hamilton has an unexpectedly good TT!

If I want to go for the overall I need to take less risks next season.  That and do my team on the PC, so I don't make clicking errors in bed at 2am! 1

Hamilton was DNS today.  Gastro problems in Bike Exchange team.

Your Costa pick worked.  Schachmann finished in the bunch so maybe is OK.

Yes, I mentioned the site to you during the Giro. Imo the articles go well beyond what can be deemed as research, and are simple spoon feeding of selections. As such it's only fair that as many managers as possible know of the site, what they choose to do with the info is then up to the individual. Even if you only read the parcours section it is a massive advabtage, particularly for the Purist game.

Concise isn't a word he understands though!

I'm useless at this game.  I thought Hamilton wasn't one of the Bike Exchange non-starters.  I can't even read let alone be concise!  I bet Costa is pissed off!

I often have wondered how many will read all the day's analysis and then thepreview of the next stage, and how many simply skip to the selections.

What's this site you're talking about?

Avatar

It's a Danish cycling website called Feltet. Does in depth previews of every stage of every race. It goes into extraordinary detail so can be a bit intimidating. As Aragonite says above, I think a lot of people probably just skip to the selections at the end rather than wade  through the mountain of text!

The withdrawals were reported on Cyclingnews so I doubt folks needed to read a translated article to know that.

As 11waterloo said, it's www.feltet.dk. Written by a cycling savant by the name of Emil Axelgaard. Ever wonder how sometime last year, or the year before Carlton Kirby suddenly became knowledgeable about cycling? That was the day he discovered feltet, he often quotes Axelgaard verbatim but never gives the site credit for his plagiarism. But then again, he is not alone, the site is also a guilty secret of many top cycling fantasy players too. 1
