I'll take a 5th! One of my best results, and it was with a really questionable transfer strat!
Tony and Mark definitely swapping notes at the top for this one
Tell me about it... can't quite reel them in!
I buggered up my transfer strategy. Hard to manage it when it's sprint > TT > summit > sprint > summit in a 7 day race.
First race of the season jitters.
Got scuppered by the breakaway today - needed Bennett to score big as he was my differential over the front runners (we all seem to have Strakhov, so bizarrely him and his mates actually hurt me by knocking the sprinters down the rankings)
Except me. Not worked out well after top result on stage 1!
I only picked him because I didn't fancy Hirt in the first mountain stage!
I was in an either/or as well. I jumped the wrong way... Hirt may have a good day tomorrow though.
Stage 7. Bardet vs Ackermann. Pogadar will probably win and Ack come last like he did the other day, and Bardet will come in 10th.
Have to say, some of the transfer strategies surprised me.
Pretty close to being spot on!
Not sure my effort in this race warrants the term 'strategy'.
With almost everyone having 6 of the 7 stage winners it has not been the most exciting of races
Late on parade with today's scores
UAE is looking really predictable apart from the sprints.
Not sure why I didn't drop Dumoulin after the TT though. I knew deep down he would nosedive but just let my heart rule!
A few eyebrows raised at the length of that finishing straight today (60kms)... but we won't see a better sprinter finish this year. Pure sprinting.
Been so busy recently and missed the deadline. Do you reckon it's worth my while entering the annual comp, or just playing the GT's and classics? It's hard enough competing with you guys on a level playing field, giving you all a couple of hundred pts headstart seems a little pointless (pun intended).
We will all miss a deadline at some point. Stick with it.
Thanks. Not going to play the Purist though.
Definitely play the regular game - you are one of the first names I look for when I check how people are using their transfers!
Given my efforts over the years in Purist, I probably should give up. The fact I don't spend much time thinking about Purist definitely shows.
I did the opposite. I hadn't finished choosing which GC guys to go for in Purist, so left the team half-done intending deciding which sprinter(s) to drop. Completely forgot to do it. I was lucky I even had a team.
Doh!
If I hadn't picked Cav after not knowing he'd crashed I reckon I'd have won the main game.
Was anyone up early this morning? How was the deadline?
I tried searching for accurate stage start times but couldn't find them.
No. I slept until after mid day due to having coronashite.... in fact the whole house has coronashite.
Oh damn, best wishes to you all!
Thanks Andy. Two youngest lads got it first and did ok.. but have been positive for 11 days now. The wife next and not quite so unaffected, I've been hit like a sack of spuds. My third lad is the one I'm worried about, he tested positive just two days ago.
Best wishes to you and your family. A sobering reminder that it's still very much out there.
Okay it's open for business!
Stay tuned for amendments during the day.
Thanks Andy. I suspect there may be quite a lot of late rosters this year.
What are the UCI rules on positive tests this year?....any idea?
Not 100% sure, but they're not sending full teams home at the moment. We've seen individuals go home on positive tests, and races aren't blocking teams from taking part. So fingers crossed disruption is minimal.
Woke up and there's still no final start list. So I'm going to launch soon with what we've got after I've checked everything over.
When are we going live on this guys....
