We need your help choosing the Planet X - road.cc pro team's jersey

Coming to your local Premier Calendar race or Tour Series round soon

Ikea is not normally our favourite place but last time we were there we walked out with something altogether snazzier than flatpack furniture – co-sponsorship of a professional racing outfit Team Planet X – road.cc. Nice.

Getting a team was the easy bit though now comes the altogether tougher challenge of kitting them out with some dapper jerseys that'll make 'em stand out in the peloton (no race radio in the Premier Calendar or Tour Series this year) and on TV and that all their soon to be legions of fans would be happy to wear too.

That's where you all come in, we've had the digital colouring kits out and we've come up with some designs, we think we've got a winner – that's it up top. It's been mahyem* getting to this point so… we'd like to run it past you lot first. After all we've always said road.cc is a club – that's what the .cc is there for so – tell us what you think.

The jerseys here are our final shortlist in descending order, but check the gallery to see the longer list – click on the gallery pics and comment on the ones you like – Planet X may make more than one team jersey… some of them in wool too.

This one riffs on the old del tongo Colnago jersey. A big favourite with Planet X boss Dave Loughran - cos it reminds him of when he was 18.

We liked the del tongo vibe too, but in blue… don't tell Dave.

Taking an all together more Belgian inspired turn of direction is this daring little green number.

Stepping away from the retro theme this one is sure to stand out in a crowd or a sprint for the line. Runs the blue jersey a close second in these parts.

We'll be talking a lot more about the new team in the coming days and weeks introducing you to the riders and their bikes… some sort of Planet X we're guessing. When you pop in to IKEA for some meatballs, sponsoring a racing team is not usually high on the agenda, but now that we've got one we're going to enjoy it in new and different ways, and we're going to share that fun around.

So, which one's your favourite jersey?

mmm.. i reckon Dev8 mainly because if you've not got team kit shorts it would go with any old pair of black shorts very well.

and as Trev Allen says maybe the retro9b for the pro team, if you can stretch to that, if not well i suspect i'll buy one whatever makes the final choice 1

I'm sure I saw thus crud race guards on Vecchio Jo's best bike, I think his style guru status is perhaps starting to wane ;0)

In this game we can never question Vecchio Jo only follow.

Cycling confucius tells us:
"It is only when a man is truley comfortable with his cycling style that he can confidently use mudgaurds"

I presume he had custom pink ones right?

What about Dev 3 as a Road.cc shirt and the Pro team have a different design unavailable to the public. It makes the Pro jersey much more reputable then. I hate seeing people ride around in Discovery Kit - it’s so not cool. You won't see "Vecchio Jo" riding in a team kit he doesn't race for. What that man doesn't know about cycling style faux pas is not worth knowing.

Wasn't there some talk of a merino or sportwool version of the Road.cc jersey a while back?

Or maybe we'll do a version of Dev 3 as the next generation shirt.

The green is quite like the old Wiels jerseys, which were very nice.

retro9b, with the pale blue & red bands, looks really good to me. It doesn't remind me of any other team, while the Planet X and road.cc both stand out separately.

Second choice would be the red & black dev8, but I'd want to see something on the sleeves e.g. stripes like the Sven Nys green one has.

I'd have gone for Retro5, but out of the four short-listed it would have to be the green

I really like the Green, could you get them made in wool by someone nice like Colomba or Shutt VR they'd look classy and be really nice then!

Hi - We'd love to help out with a Merino based jersey, here's one of our recent creations. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_DZmDbNIOp8w/SzM125m8B9I/AAAAAAAAAPw/9RHfroK1NH...

We will be launching a line of quality synthetics this spring too, completely custom designs.

Just noticed a new strap line of "the cycling website" on the jerseys too.

Will my Road.cc "Pedal powered" jersey become a collectors item?

That's still the strapline for the site, itself a shortened version of "the website for pedal powered people" which is too long for pretty much everything except course tape. We changed the strap on this one cos it occurred that there would be some people (maybe even quite a lot 1 ) who wouldn't know what road.cc is.

It'll be on the next road.cc jersey though.

I like retro9b, my only issue would be with the Luxembourg National Champions stripes on the collar and sleeves.

I think retro4 would get my overall vote.

dev 5 for me. Be true to your roots! Argle does need to play a part, no matter how much I like some of the others but the argle needs to show.

What sort of launch date and rrp will we be looking at? Fancy riding up the tourmalet and on a few sportives with one of these on my back. Shorts to match? Just need the planet x carbon pro to complete the look!

Choices, choices

I like the main picture design, very clean and simple but would prefer to wear the retro7 design as it would make me look slimmer 4

Hmm... I'm thinking if you didn't win the Tour you might want to stay away from the Yellow. Same for the Green unless your Thor.

I don’t think Garmin own argyle so I’m voting for "Dev5".

Long live the argyle!
