London Cycling Campaign to hold fundraiser at Look Mum No Hands! Café

A fundraising evening in support of the London-wide campaign, Space for Cycling, is to be held at the Look Mum No Hands! café on Tuesday the 7th October. Photographer Ivan Coleman will be on hand to take professional pictures of people and their bikes in return for a small donation

Space for Cycling is a London Cycling Campaign initiative which was launched last summer in the wake of a series of cyclist deaths. It has since expanded throughout the country with the aim of influencing both local and national politicians.

In April and May of this year, efforts were made to outline over 600 cycling-specific demands to candidates standing in London’s local elections and 45 per cent of councillors are now said to support Space for Cycling. Phase two of the campaign is to try and ensure that those who promised to create the needed changes will actually deliver.

This week’s fundraiser will see Coleman – a keen cyclist himself – taking pictures of people and their bikes in return for donations. The photos will then be sent in a digital format in a high resolution suitable for printing.

Photos will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis, with the café open as usual, serving food and drinks. Look Mum No Hands! is just off Old Street roundabout in East London with a large Space for Cycling sticker in the window. The event starts at 5pm on Tuesday the 7th of October.
