Video: Man cycles through massive foam blob

The anomaly, caused by an explosion of fire retardant, was just too tempting for one cyclist

2016 has been pretty shocking so far. Ever feel like cycling into a massive cloud of foam?

Well, in Santa Clara, near San Francisco, last week, one man had his chance, after a fire suppressant system was activated at an aviation hangar, releasing a lake of foam across neighbouring streets.

Blake Harrington, who was passing by on his bike, said police officers suggested he cycle through it. So he did.

He told KTVU: “Apparently it’s fire retardant that went off in the hangar there, made a big foam pile in the street.”

So Harrington headed into the abyss on a beach cruiser, and was quickly submerged. The foam reached the height of stop signs at its deepest, and he hit a signpost at one point, only to emerge unscathed, if coated in foam.

“Someone had to do it,” he said. “We were on the other side and the officers over there were like 'you should ride through.' And I was like, 'OK you guys don't mind?' So we decided to do it,”

“They said it’s not toxic, I asked before.”

You can see the extent of the eerie white substance here.

Would he have suffocated if he fell off?  Never mind the toxicity, I'd be more worried about breathing.

Non-toxic eh?  They always say that, it brightens up their quiet lives.
