Cooke's Vision 1 Racing team to promote charity

…and Nicole wins Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year award

On Sunday Nicole Cooke was named The Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year for her achievements in becoming the first person to do the double of winning the Olympic road race and the world championship in the same year.

At the awards ceremony Nicole (who is also road.cc's Rider of the Year) took the opportunity to talk about the work of Action Medical Research the charity which her team, Vision 1 Racing has announced a partnership with. Riders on the team set up by Cooke in the wake of her Olympic and World triumphs will wear the Action Medical Research logo and the strapline 'Official Charity Partner' on their kit.  The aim is to publicise the important work undertaken by the charity, highlight awareness of their highly rated cycling events and encourage fundraising for their causes.

Visiting one of the Action Medical Research projects in London Nicole Cooke said: '”Seeing the research being carried out by the medical team was so inspiring. I am proud to be able to support Action Medical Research by drawing attention to their charity, support their fundraising events and the work which is helping change the outcome of peopleʼs lives.”
