Wantage cyclist only realised his bike was stolen when police posted photo of it to Facebook

A fairweather cyclist?

On the down side, Facebook gather extensive personal data on you and apparently don’t do as much as they might to protect it. Set against that, the website can help you discover that your bike’s been stolen without all that troublesome opening-the-garage-to-check business.

The Oxford Mail reports that a Wantage man only realised his bike had been stolen after spotting a picture of it on the Thames Valley Police Facebook page.

The post said that the bike was seized on Monday March 19 in the Wantage area. Police asked that the owner come forward.

The man’s wife commented underneath: "Thanks everyone for commenting/sharing – it’s my husband’s bike. Have just checked our garage and [the] door has been broken."

Alex has written for more cricket publications than the rest of the road.cc team combined. Despite the apparent evidence of this picture, he doesn't especially like cake.
