A 30-year-old e-bike rider has been arrested following a collision that left a pedestrian with life-threatening injuries on Tuesday.
The Guardian reports that the incident took place just after 5pm as a 56-year-old woman crossed Kingsland High Street in Dalston, east London.
The cyclist fell to the ground as a result of the collision but then rode away.
Police and paramedics were called and the woman was taken to hospital where she remains having suffered life-threatening injuries.
The bike, a mountain bike style electric-assisted pedal cycle produced by Specialized, was abandoned on the nearby Approach Close and has been recovered.
The suspect was arrested at an address in Islington, north London, after he contacted police late on Wednesday. He was arrested on suspicion of causing bodily harm, failing to stop and failing to report a collision.
Officers are still appealing for any witnesses. Anyone with information can contact the SCIU at Chadwell Heath on 020 8597 4874 or call 101 quoting CAD 5837/28 August.
