8 tips for getting the best out of a sportive
With the event set to be a sellout, Vélo Birmingham have set up a pre-registration portal to make sure everyone who puts their name on the list has the chance to enter. All you need to do is enter your full name and email on the Velo Birmingham website (that link again is here) and then you'll receive an invitation to pay for your entry on the 4th October. There are already over 40,000 names on the pre-registration list and the places aren't expected to last long when entries open, so make sure you've got your details ready to go tomorrow.
As for the ride itself... it's set to be bigger and better than the inaugural event in 2017, with 100 miles of fully closed roads along mostly A- and B- roads, with 1,500 metres of climbing on the challenging but enjoyable course. You'll start and finish in the centre of Birmingham and ride ou towards Coventry, with a couple of bumps at Baxterley and Birchley Heath along the way.

Arriving at road.cc in 2017 via 220 Triathlon Magazine, Jack dipped his toe in most jobs on the site and over at eBikeTips before being named the new editor of road.cc in 2020, much to his surprise. His cycling life began during his students days, when he cobbled together a few hundred quid off the back of a hard winter selling hats (long story) and bought his first road bike - a Trek 1.1 that was quickly relegated to winter steed, before it was sadly pinched a few years later. Creatively replacing it with a Trek 1.2, Jack mostly rides this bike around local cycle paths nowadays, but when he wants to get the racer out and be competitive his preferred events are time trials, sportives, triathlons and pogo sticking - the latter being another long story.
Not sure it's anything to do with it being about women, I just don't think they wanted to start the day off on a feel good story...doesn't generate...

Re careless versus dangerous driving, the issues could be solved by allowing the magistrates or judge to make a finding that the evidence was...
Which shop is this? At that level of discount I'd consider the necessary transatlantic flight.
