Vulpine offer cycle-specific trousers

British bike clothing company Vulpine are now offering trousers and shorts that are designed for use both on and off the bike.

This is a market that hardly existed until fairly recently but brands like Rapha and Howies are already making trousers that look normal at the office or around town, but with features that make them cycle-friendly.

The Vulpine Tailored Trousers are made in a stretch fabric so they’re not restrictive as you pedal, and they’re water resistant to help keep the road spray out. The seams are taped and there’s a cycle-specific gusset to avoid chafing from the saddle.

The trousers are cut high at the back so you stay covered up when you lean forward, and the waist has a silicone gripper to hold it in place. Other useful features include articulated knees, a buttoned ankle adjuster on the driveside to avoid the fabric getting snagged in the chain, Scotchlite reflective inner leg seams for turn-up visibility and a hidden light loop.

These are available in charcoal and khaki at £120 a pair.

The shorts offer similar number of cycle-specific features – less the articulated knees, obviously. They’re available in the same colours at £95.
