Chinese boy impaled on his seat tube after freak accident

Horrendous injuries when saddle bent off in fall

In news from China to make you wince, a young boy cycling to school was impaled on his seat tube following a fall.

The saddle bent forward as he came off, sending the seat tube into the boy's anus.

The bike had to be cut away from the boy's body by fire fighters  before he was taken to hospital and the rest of the metal tube removed.

Fortunately the injury to his rectum, which can easily be fatal, was successfully treated, according to the website Opposing Views.

If you ever find yourself without a saddle for any reason, take some tips from this video of the Norwegian Kurt Asle Arvesen who rode 20km of the Paris Robaix without a seat - legs of steel.

IIRC the guy who came third in the Olympic MTB race lost his saddle halfway through the last lap...

Days back my Look Carbonpost on my KG 56 kind of collapsed, 50% of the carbon shaft diameter had been broken. 43 Firstly I had imagined that the rails of my Speedneedle had snapped. Nope. Was the post. Replaced with one of thre last 25 mm USE units. (http://innercitymobility.blogspot.de/2013/01/made-in-europe-french-carbo...)
As You can see the Speedneedle is still going strong, these days I have a total of three of them running. 1

followed the sources in each successive article and came to the original: http://en.rocketnews24.com/2013/02/25/chinese-students-bicycle-seat-brea...

from the looks of it, the saddle rails buckled and impaled him - the seatpost held fast.

also @giant, I can haz lifetime warranty? 26
