Isn't this always a problem with magnesium? Light it may be, but fatigue it is prone to...

Fatigue and cracking plagued the Kirk magnesium bike, IIRC.

It plagued high-end, light-weight motorcycle wheels made from magnesium for a while. In motor industry, magnesium sees a good bit of use for race-spec parts, where its lightness is worth it and the (lack of) durability is less of an issue.

Magnesium. Cool material. But not good for making durable parts from - if those parts are stressed.
