At road.cc every product is thoroughly tested for as long as it takes to get a proper insight into how well it works. Our reviewers are experienced cyclists that we trust to be objective. While we strive to ensure that opinions expressed are backed up by facts, reviews are by their nature an informed opinion, not a definitive verdict. We don't intentionally try to break anything (except locks) but we do try to look for weak points in any design. The overall score is not just an average of the other scores: it reflects both a product's function and value – with value determined by how a product compares with items of similar spec, quality, and price. What the road.cc scores mean
Good scores are more common than bad, because fortunately good products are more common than bad.
Not to be outdone by the Lads, Fat Lasses at the Back (Flab) has brought out their Nippy long sleeved jersey to cover up in during the winter months.
Like their big brothers, Fat Lad at the Back, the key feature of the Lasses range is the variety of sizes in which they are made. The Nippy jersey starts at size 34 (UK 8-10) with a 27 inch waist and progresses through 8 options to size 50 (UK 24-26) with a 46 inch waist. I tested a size 44 as my waist is 39 inches, but as you can see from the photos, I probably needed the size below.
The fit of the jersey could have been made more flattering with a more feminine shape - the jersey was very straight up and down more like a men's design. I liked the length of the jersey, which covered most of my bum and was held in place by a silicone gel strip. The sleeves were exceedingly long on me, but better too long than too short as if you are either taller than me or spend more time on the drops it's tough to find sleeves that don't end up mid-forearm.
The jersey comes in two 'flavours'. 'Full Fat' has the text 'Fat Lass at the Back' for all to behold, or there is a '0% Fat' version with just the logo if more subtle is your style. The heather and black colourway is a bit too obvious for my tastes (girls wear pink n purple, don't you know) but is relatively inoffensive.
The Nippy jersey is made from a fleecy-backed polyester, and this comfort was appreciated when I wore a short-sleeved baselayer. It offered a reasonable degree of warmth, but I found the need for a wind-proof outer layer in the chill of the morning.
There are three generous pockets at the back of the top, and a zippered smartphone pocket too. However, the jersey lacks some of the refinements that are becoming standard issue in jerseys in this price range - there was no zip hood and the label was sewn in rather than heat sealed.
If you are a plus sized cyclist, then this is of the few options out there, but could do better for the design and fit

It was warm, but not that warm.
Has survived a few washes without problems.
The inside of the material is lovely, but zip hoods and a lined zip would have improved the comfort.
Would you recommend the product to a friend? Yes, if sizing of other brands was an issue.
