Specialized and SRAM have joined forces to put up five S-Work Tarmac carbon race bikes with eTap for charity, with all proceeds going to the World Bicycle Relief, a non-profit organisation that provides bicycles for students and health workers in developing rural communities around the world.
- First Ride: SRAM Red eTap wireless groupset
These are the first Specialized road bikes with SRAM’s brand new wireless groupset, so if you really want to be one of the first people in your club to have a Tarmac with eTap, this could be the opportunity for you. And it’s for a good cause.
Founded in 2005, the World Bicycle Relief has so far delivered 275,000 bicycles and trained over 1,000 mechanics, providing many people with access to healthcare, education and economic development.
How much will the bikes go for? We’ve no idea. You would be looking at a price somewhere in the region of £7,000 if you were to buy such a bike from your local bike shop. But you can't buy these bikes in your local bike shop.
Each bike is finished with Zipp wheels and matching handlebars, stem and seatpost, with matching decals on the frame and wheels.
The auction is taking place on eBay and will open at 4pm UK time, and conclude on Friday. When it’s time, you’ll be able to make a bid for one of the bikes here http://stores.ebay.com/auctioncause/specialized
