New Ritchey Reveller dirt sportive set for Bristol

Route takes in gravel, bridleways and farm tracks

Bristol Bikefest will this year feature the Ritchey Reveller dirt sportive for the first time, a 60km (about 37 miles) event that takes in gravel tracks, bridleways and rough farm roads.

It’s a single loop that starts and finishes at the Bikefest event venue in Ashton Court, Bristol.

“The event goes over a variety of terrain (including up to 50 percent off road) so the recommended bikes would be cyclocross or gravel bikes, but all kinds of bikes are welcome,” says event organiser Michael Wilkens. “Due to the high off-road content we would not recommend bringing road bikes to the Reveller.”

Riders can expect a well marked course, feed stations at the start/finish and on the route, showers and changing rooms.

As part of Bristol Bikefest, there will be an event village with food and drink stands, a bar and pre/post ride massage.

Bristol Bikefest has been running for 14 years. It offers 12, six and three-hour relay mountain bike events as well as the Steve Worland Ride Singletrack Hard & Drink A Swig Of Cider Per Lap Memorial Cup 2016, named after the late bike journalist.

The Reveller takes place on Sunday, 12 June 2016. Entry is £25.

So they're sticking to the roads then?  Beggar bush lane is becoming more farm track every day with the building site traffic

I rarely go along there, but my wife swears that even driving a car along beggar bush lane can be pretty hairy now.

The building site - turning that hotel site into a "not at all convenient for local amenities " retirement village - seems to be dropping all of their excavated mud along the road instead of taking it away for disposal (very great escape? Or was it colditz, where they scattered soil from their trousers...).

Shame it's the same day as Battle in the Bowl: http://www.cxsportive.com/battle-in-the-bowl-super-cx/

More so, a shame that I'm meant to be at a wedding that day 7
