Time is introducing new road pedals called Xpro that offer a wider platform than the existing Xpresso design. With a cover plate at the bottom, they’re also said to provide improved aerodynamics, although no figures are put on that.
Like Xpresso, Xpro uses Time’s IClic pedal engagement system that is pre-opened to make clipping in easier, although it has been “redesigned to allow for a more positive engagement”, according to Time.
Check out our video to learn how to use road clipless pedals.
The Xpro comes in three different flavours: 15, 12 and 10.
The Xpro 15 is the top-level model, coming in at a claimed weight of 174.6g for the pair (compared with 142g for the Xpresso 15) – which is superlight. Like the other two Xpros, the Xpro 15 has a carbon body and a pedal platform area of 725mm2 (compared with 700mm2 for the Xpresso). Time says that this improves power transfer and stability.
Here are 10 of the best clipless pedals.
The Xpro 15 shares Xpresso 15’s CeramicSpeed bearings and hollow titanium axle. You can adjust the carbon blade that provides the cleat retaining tension to three different positions.
The Xpro 12 comes with a titanium axle but this time it isn’t hollow, and weighs 188g.
The Xpro 10 has a hollow steel axle and a weight of 226g.

Time’s UK distributor Extra UK expects to receive the new Xpro pedals later this month with them going out to retailers soon afterwards. Pricing is still being finalised but will be close to that of the current Xpresso 15 (£399.99), 12 (£249.99) and 10 (£139.99) models.
