Shiny New Things Video: New Assos Equipe RS S9 shorts and Gore Shakedry clothing

A first look at the new Assos S9 shorts and a Gore Shakedry Stretch jacket and cap

In the latest episode of Shiny New Things we've taken a first look at the brand new Assos Equipe RS S9 shorts, with an all-new construction and pad design, and Gore's newest winter clothing, a ShakeDry Stretch jacket and a ShakeDry cap.

The new S9 bib shorts are the latest design from the Swiss company and replace the previous S7. The changes include a streamlined race-spec insert with a reduced volume and weight and  A-Lock Engineering, a new way of attaching the bib straps to the shorts intended to better stabilise and secure the padded insert in place as you move about in the saddle. You can read more about them here.

The ShakeDry fabric from Gore is a big step forward in winter and rain protection, being 100% waterproof but extremely breathable as well as highly packable. This winter it has released a stretchy version of the jacket, with strategically placed Active Stretch fabric panels to improve the fit (not that it was really that bad in the first place). We first saw it at Eurobike two years ago.
