Red Bull ads

When I've been reading road.cc on my phone, the last few days, every story has an ad for Red Bull (that well known cycling recovery drink?). Is everyone else getting this or is something odd going on with targeted advertising?

If you're new please join in and if you have questions pop them below and the forum regulars will answer as best we can.

You do realise that this thread is a year old and that ad campaigns are very ephemeral?

They probably didn't.  On the other hand, I still get a *lot* of Red Bull ads...

I don't, so its probably down to tracking cookies and your past browsing history - at least its not ads for porn sites - that would have been embarassing.

I hadn't noticed any RB adverts until I read this forum post - there's one on this page for me well below the fold (just above the footer).

Recently been seeing ads for thermal imaging sensors (presumably linked to reading hidden motor articles from a year or so back?).

I am a huge fan of editing your localhosts folder.

I've been doing it for years and have a completely Advert free internet browsing experience, I now avoid paywall sites and sites like Singletrackworld which actively go about banning forum members for using adblockers, ultimately they will lose revenue from such tactics.

IMHO, if the ads spoil the site, you are justified in blocking them.

@ktache: I don't use an adblocker for the same reasons, but on my iPhone they *do* auto play (which is really f-ing annoying).

At least the red bull ad I get features a bicycle, and doesn't force me to watch it.  There are some that pop up in a tiny box , mostly at the bottom of the page that will not let me move the page away from it, so making the article and comments impossible to read.

I do not want to use an ad blocker as I realise that ads are the way this wonderful site gains enough revenue to operate.

You are lucky, I'm bounce to gambling sites or app downloads almost every time. Therefore  the ads I see are for gambling sites.
