Help... will this carbon jargo Break!

Hi everyone I need some help. I am looking to by a second hand Trek Crossrip Elite Cyclocross online. The bike has aluminium frame with carbon forks! I have not experience with these ...especially carbon!! The owner sent me a close up of a small chip on the frame and fork.

Could someone with more experience than me help tell me whether this is something to be worried about? Will the forks fail on me? Or any I over reacting?

Hopefully you can see the image here:

Thanks for the feedback. I think the bike does have disc brakes. Although I think they're mechanical cable rather than hydrolic.

To me as there is wear on the forks and the frame i thought the rider might have been turning hard left and hit something to scratch both at the same time. But you're right, it does look a little more like slow running wear than a bash/crash.

Cable rub. You wouldn't have got that if they'd been disc brakes... see? Much safer all round.

That's what frame protector tape is for. E.g. https://lizardskins.com/road/bike-protection/fork-protector-clear-1

Or if you don't mind using scissors, you can get clear "helicopter" tape from EBay for much less money.

Agreed, that's cable rub. If that was on steel, I'd put a coat of clear nail varnish over it and leave it at that but as it's carbon I wouldn't worry about it.

That looks like where a cable has been rubbing - I wouldn't be worried about that.
