Near Miss of the Day 254: Close pass on brow of hill

Today’s video in our Near Miss of the Day Series shows a motorist overtaking a cyclist on the brow of a hill – just at a point where there are cars parked on both sides of the road, narrowing the carriageway and meaning that the driver has to cut straight back in to avoid oncoming traffic.

It was filmed last Monday 11 February on Upper Hibbert Lane in Marple, Cheshire, by road.cc reader Andy.

He told us: “The road with parked cars over the brow of the hill ALWAYS has cars parked on it, it’s always a bottleneck, so the driver really was inconsiderate.

“He also turned off down a side road further down the road so he would be aware of this.”

Over the years road.cc has reported on literally hundreds of close passes and near misses involving badly driven vehicles from every corner of the country – so many, in fact, that we’ve decided to turn the phenomenon into a regular feature on the site. One day hopefully we will run out of close passes and near misses to report on, but until that happy day arrives, Near Miss of the Day will keep rolling on.
