This area, you see, is spotted with historic church steeples, and participants on the ride have been tasked to traverse the tranquil lanes of Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Leicestershire along which the eponymous spires are abundant. These hills may not be the steepest, but with one ascent following the other the Steeple Chase doesn’t offer up a great deal of respite, and you will be kept on your toes until the finishing line. The summits, however strength sapping they may be, will afford you a vantage point from where to see the next steeple to chase, as you point your steed down hill and dip back into middle England’s leafy lanes.
