Points for riders in break of the day

What a joke it is that if there are more than ten riders in a break, in the case of OHN today there were 12, you get no points for correctly calling a breakaway rider, yet you can get 5 points just for having a rider from the same team as the winner

sort it out lads, that's just crap!

Which is obviously fair enough, if the majority are happy then fine.

It's the tone of the responses that irritate, I do pay for the premium game so I think its ok to complain if I feel something is wrong.

Just because it's always been one way therefore shouldn't change isn't an answer

Anyway, I'm boring myself now, back to the volta!

And also it terms of so intent to keep it the same. Those who make the decisions listen to what is said but still agree 10 is the right number. And out of even just those that post on the forum, less than 5% have raised any kind of issue with the break rule

Well 10 riders offers 100 points, a stage with 2 sprints, 2 cat 3's, a cat 2 and 2 cat 1's offers 102 points. And that is more mountains than an average type stage, so more than enough points are on offer for a break of 10 riders

Out of interest why are you so set on keeping it as it is? "It's always been that way so we won't change it" doesn't strike me as a great philosophy generally. Also other rules have been changed since the game started, so why not this one? Assuming there is support for it of course.

It doesn't make the game less challenging, everyone has equal chance of hitting a rider in the break, but what it would do, if it were say 10%,  is make it worthwhile trying to hit the break. Currently it's not worth taking a risk on picking a breaker as too often the break is more than 10 riders.

That then limits the fantasy cycling enjoyment of the long races where not very much happens for 200kms.

As Enrique said, the break never makes it in a 1 day race anyway.

In terms of "whinging", well that's largely what Internet forums are for, that and trolling.

10 is fine. Stop whinging. The rules have been the same since it started.

That's how it is.

I don't see the problem with just giving points, though maybe less, for just making the break. How big can a break get? In most major races, the break doesn't make it till the end...  And with the amount of info available, we always find out who's in the break. And it's clearly defined as at the half-way point, so I'd be ok with everyone in the break, in any size break, getting points at mid-way. I just think it's unfair to set an irrational, arbitrary limit. If you're in a break, you're in a break. And it's not like you're going to sacrifice higher valued riders to sneak in break specialists on the off-chance you'll get 10 more points ...  Hell, I think it makes the game more interesting and you'd have to do more research to pick your 3.0 riders more carefully! 1 Anyways, what matters most is if you make it to the end or not, so, why not give everyone in the break points? It seems reasonable to me! ...

It is already solved. The rule is 10 riders maximum, has always been and will always be that. For years it has given many players points. There is no need for it to change to 10%/15 riders or whatever idea someone comes up with.

10% of the San Remo would have meant 20 riders as there was 200 starters. That waters the game down and makes it far to easy. It needs to be a challenge, else anyone can pick a half decent team.

I agree 20 riders to be awarded ipoints from the break may be a little too much. But I'd be ok with 15  Or maybe we can go up to 20 riders and drop their points down from 10 points to just 5...

Sorry dave but that's easily solved, make the rule that the break has to be 10% or less of the peloton, that would be fair to everyone, otherwise you may as well scrap the points for break riders in one day races.

Again today I've been done by picking tvetcov and there is 11 in the break. Theres nearly 250 riders in Milan San remo for goodness sake, 11 riders is less than 5% of the peloton and therefore nobody scores any break points. Its a joke really.

Guys, I really wouldnt bother getting worked up about this - the original post was put up in the heat of the moment when the OP was raging about getting another hiding in fantasy cycling. He evidently lost his cool under the mental strain of competition, the rule is absolutely fine as it stands and I am certain he would agree with this now tempers have cooled and reason is no longer blinded by fury.

Yea but enrique, you have to have boundaries and rules, 10/15 whatever it is, its still there and always has been 10, think tou just have to respect the rule, its happened before and will happen again. And the midpoint is needed as little groups form all the time especially in 1 day races where you get these points. You also have to remember that in a stage race if 12 riders were in the break it is likely that unless very montainous only half of them are likely to score anything. So your getting alot in one day race so 10 riders are reasonable.

I agree with fxceltic...   I'd be ok with going up to 15... That's a nice size break... Regardless, if it's at mid point of the race, it is kind of an achievement to pick a guy that gets into a break...

and when it's 15, then next time the break is 16 people, what do you think will happen?

so: it stays at 10.

To be clear I'm cool with five points for team mate but no points for the break is just shite.
