Maybe - but I think there are also time bonuses being awarded at the finish, so the GC might change if any Leopards or Leakygas are high up in the sprint.
Dave, re. the point scoring rules.
Lots of people don't know how to find the point scoring rules. A friend of mine asked me when he was picking his team for the tdf, and he has a degree from a top american university.
Would it be helpful to have a link on the main page to 'point scoring for the next stage'.
it varies stage by stage. Go to the fantasy page. Click on 'stages' and scroll down to find the next stage. Click on that and it tells you the points for that stage. So for todays stage it says;-
This stage will be scored on the following criteria:
Finish line: Points awarded on the line of a stage or day race. First across the line gets 20 points, down to 1 point for 20th position
Stage PC: Points awarded for points accrued in the points classification from the day's stage. Does not include stage finish points.
For the Vuelta, each sprint will have 6,4 and 2 points available for 1st, 2nd and 3rd
Stage KM: Points awarded for points accrued in the climber's classification from the day's stage. Does not include mountaintop stage finishes.
For the Vuelta a Espana the following points are available:
HC: 10,5,3,2,1
Cat 1: 6,4,2
Cat 2: 5,3,1
Cat 3: 3,2,1
Cat 4: 3,2,1
GC (Tour): Points awarded for a top ten position in the GC of a Tour at the end of a stage. 10 points for first down to 1 point for 10th
Points competition (Tour): Points awarded for overall standing in the points competition at the end of a stage. 5 points for first position down to 1 point for 5th
Mountains competition (Tour): Points awarded for overall standing in the mountains competition at the end of a stage. 5 points for first position down to 1 point for 5th
Lanterne Rouge (Tour): 10 points awarded for last place in the GC at the end of a stage
Team bonus: 5 points to every participating rider in the winning rider's team
Thanks J Andrew Hill, so based on this, assuming Fuglsang finishes on the same time as the highly likely sprint finish today, then he would get 10 points
"GC (Tour): Points awarded for a top ten position in the GC of a Tour at the end of a stage. 10 points for first down to 1 point for 10th"
Thanks again!
Normally, at the end of a stage, the top 10 (or is it 20) get points for teir overall classification. So if Fuglsang finishes 99th, but with the same time as the winner, and so keeps the yellow, i think he scores 10 pts (but it may be 20)
