Does the thought of 8 days of bicycling through Yunnan’s remote volcanic crystalline lakes & sweeping gorges, visiting one of China’s last matriarchal societies, while at the at the same time creating a sustainable positive impact on the communities you pass through spark your interest?

China Charity Challenge is hosting the first annual charity cycling challenge from Yunnan to Sichuan via Lugu Lake from September 26 - October 4, 2009 . The ride will take in some of China ’s most ethnically diverse, culturally rich, and naturally scenic areas.

Organized in partnership with Roots & Shoots China, 30 riders (15 teams), will take part in a team challenge that will not only be the ride of a lifetime, but will also help support environmental education in local communities in Yunnan and Sichuan. Roots & Shoots is a charity organization that partners with local schools to incorporate environmental issues into the curriculum and allow students to design their own small-scale environmental protection projects.

Riders are also strongly encouraged to seek personal sponsorship to raise additional funds for the charity. The price also includes domestic airfare to Kunming and back to Beijing/Shanghai from Sichuan , accommodations & main meals; bike hire; entrance tickets and national park passes (local guide, tour leader); support vehicles; T-
shirt; route briefings & maps.
