Chippenham woman was so drunk she crashed car into McDonald’s
The heavily intoxicated 54-year-old crashed her Fiat 500 into a bin and a curb [sic] when she arrived at about 10pm on Tuesday (24 October) – and narrowly avoided hitting a lamppost.
After ordering her meal at the Bath Road drive-through, she was told to park in the waiting bay. As she attempted to do so, she struck the building and a raised seating area.

Just been reading about the latest Just Stop Oil protest having a premium police response - "Posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, the Met said its officers had arrived within four minutes of receiving a report of the protest and began making arrests. The force said it arrested 61 people, all of whom were still in custody on Monday afternoon."

I was intrigued as why section 7 of the Public Order Act 2023, which bans any act “which interferes with the use or operation of any key national infrastructure in England and Wales” isn't used to immediately arrest drivers who crash and block roads etc.

No buildings harmed here, but I can understand it's been a case of any thread you can find that works.
Ryan added: Until the investigation is completed it would be wrong for anyone to speculate on the cause of this incident. We will not be making any other comments until such time as we have received the consultant’s report.”
sorry, Ryan, but I'll bet someone didn't tighten the wheelnuts.
"For years, the yellow bus has been a symbol of safety and reliability." Yellow?
So he was driving a BMW X5 which is the size of a house, was three times over the limit and this was the second time he got caught and he gets....
"A four year ban" and "Magistrates sentenced Page to a 12-month community order with a rehabilitation activity requirement for 15 days and 80 hours unpaid work. He was ordered to pay £135 costs and a £114 surcharge. His ban will be reduced by a quarter if he completes a drink-drivers' rehabilitation course."
So basically a slap on the wrist. He will do it again...and again...and again. Next time, he should go to jail for a spell and never get his licence back.
On a less ranty note, I do love one of the comments below the piece: "" It became apparent he was under the influence of alcohol. Officers could smell alcohol on his breath and he had been using his indicators".... School boy error that for any BMW driver. I am surprised he knew where they were.... it took me years to find them on my car!
The driver died. It's usually like a race track and I've lost count of the number of reports I've made on this bit of road.

That kind of crash and damage would make sense if they were speeding, so maybe they need their licence revoked as the universe is sending a clear sign that they weren't in control.
Shurely he could just self-medicate?
It's always the cars.. never the car pilots doing the crashing.
The poor driver, getting caught like that.. this must be subversive part of the #waronmotorsts we're being told about. Be vigilant people and remember you drive how you like to drive and hang the weather conditions!

people?
They can be difficult to see, so why don't they put a light on it or something?
They got it through without damage which looks like a good bit of driving though. Maybe not the best choice of route, however.
The trick is to tilt it onto two corners and then "walk" it along.
But yes, that sounds ridiculous.
Saw this in the Graun earlier. 8 pedestrians had to be taken to hospital (3 of them to major trauma centres) after a man in his 20s drove a Range Rover into a bus stop in Aldwych at about 3.30 am.
Met Police: "At this stage, the incident is not being treated as terror-related."
Hmmm. The poor victims might feel differently. SUVs and other vehicles 'terrorise' the streets of towns and cities across the country every day.

Also today a passenger died and two others were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries when a Mercedes overturned on the M4 and caught fire. [article] And a driver died in a single-vehicle crash on the A55 early on Saturday morning.
a premium police response
Yes, they're a whirlwind of activity when such anti-socials are concerned- but strangely forgiving where it's hard-working motorists. This is the failed MOT of PJ07 NFP, which has regularly been seen, filmed and reported driving around Garstang without insurance, MOT or VED for over 3 years. Entertainingly, the vehicle has now disappeared from the DVLA website- my last encounter in August showed that there's been no VED since 31.1.20. People are sick of seeing shots of WU59 UMH, the local champion of freedom, at over 6 years fighting the War on Motorists by failing an MOT on 23.9.23 for dangerous defects but continuing to drive- with the support of Lancashire Constabulary
Bike racks need more situational awareness...
That is a highways maintenance vehicle!
There's a crash cushion at the back.
Is this a VIP's flat? What's the story here? Car goes into flat so empty I though it was a garage, but there are a ton of police / emergency vehicles there and "the police stayed to tidy up" apparently?
Well, the wing* mirror in the photo appears to be yellow.
