Had a good day today. I now have 3 transfers burning a hole in my pocket. If I use them I might well make my team worse, though I may regret not making a couple of possible improvments I have identified.
Shouls have used them earlier.
So, I made one change. Minus 2 against doing nothing.
Sometimes having transfers muddle the mind.
It's a shame the TDF doesn't have more stages with demanding climbs either before or at the finish. Colbrelli could have been right in the mix for green ala Sagan. Having said that...I'm not even sure Ewan and co will even find him a pushover on the flat right now.
From what I can make of the Tour route this year, there are 8 sprints and 4 medium days that could suit Colbrelli et al. That includes the first couple. Wouldn't put it past Colbrelli to do well this year given his form. I doubt Ewan will push for Green specifically, only at least one stage. So Green is probably between Bennett, Sagan, Colbrelli and Van Aert. Oh and Demare.
Van der Poel could be a wildcard for green if he put his mind to it but I suspect he will just target specific stages.
Yeah good point. Interested to see what kind of race he has!
Yeah, I suspect though that he'll only been given some freedom when Roglic is in a good position....having said that he surely isn't the kind of rider that would be happy with that for the second year in a row.
Agreed about Ewan. He never seems to target intermediates, which you need to do to win the green jersey....he'll be the favourite for most sprint wins alongside Bennett though.
Another deadline missed. Too much stuff going on at the moment.
All you can do is turn it into a positive and enjoy those extra transfers. I hope the real life stuff works out, the game needs a fit and firing Dr Winston!
I'm being pulled all over. We've sold the father in laws hous a couple of hundred yards away after he died from that Covid kak. He had so much stuff that we're struggling to empty it and there's builders in there completing work before the sale can go through. I'm literally wearing a trench between the two houses. This morning it was a chap wanting access for checking for asbestos....
When I say he had so much stuff....I mean mountains of it. Do you know anywhere in Southport that deals in second hand books?....I'm talking maybe 2000 or so...The Preston book dealers are inundated with stuff.
Broadhursts is the only second hand bookshop in Southport that I know of.They have a website but I don't know if they want books currently. eBay is usually a decent way to sell stuff in my experience but make sure it is for collection only if you sell as a job lot!
We've had to sell masses of stuff on eBay. He was a violin and Cello maker as well as a cabinet maker, sculptor, painter...,blah, blah, blah... It's all kinda specialist stuff. He was also an avid collector of lots of different things. His house was fantastic....stuffed full of really interesting things, and a big house....the problem is emptying it.
Do you know Warren and Wignall auctioneers in Leyland?....all booked up for slots for months in advance, we can't even do that now.
No, I'm not familiar with them. Fortunately I've not been in your position, any relatives have only left things of sentimental rather than aesthetic value. It does sound extremely stressful, trying to make sure his possessions are treated with the respect they deserve. I hope you can do it without causing yourself too much further worry!
6 transfers and still scored less than my purist team. I really suck at this game!
What happened to Valverde?
My only saving graces are the transfers I've saved
Dont normally get such surprises in ITT's unless they have been weather affected.
Or, as in this case, doping affected!
Quite an accusation.
Hats off to anyone who persevered with McNulty after stage 1. I dropped him like a stone & am now cursing his every pedal stroke!
Same
One for the TT though?
Got to be first or second favourite.
I persevered with Pedersen....same level of cursing. Bad pick.
Yes, he generally a very solid sprinter with the potential for a good time trial. Could have done well today and tomorrow without the fall.
No doubting today suited Venturini and Stuyven slightly with the raised finish...but to drop Pedersen for either was a bit grey. Could just as easily have been kicking myself for taking him out.
What's Bystrom's story? Had him for stage 1, he lost 15 minutes and then top 5 today (and of course I took him out), hope its not going to be one of those tours......
I held back on using many transfers as this looked like a random Dauphine with some weak teams. I wish I'd picked Valverde for Purist team though. I honestly thought I had but must have forgotten to press the "make changes" button before I went to bed! So annoying.
Always Valverde. He just can't stop himself mixing it up with any sort of stage.
Well that didn't go to plan. Missed the deadline....doh....Just got whatever I was tinkering around with last night.
Anybody thinking about travelling around Lancashire today...don't bother.
