Safe cycling district

I've just spent a few days staying with my brother at his house near Duns, just north of the Scotland/England border. We've spent some days cycling around the many quiet,  narrow country lanes. I've been amazed at the respect shown cyclists by the drivers of cars, trucks and farm vehicles. Some of the time I suspect this has been because the people have recognised my brother as a local. But a lot of the time it's simply because most people take care.

We've only seen a few other cyclists while we've been here though. But if you're looking for some pleasant riding on quiet country lanes where the drivers seem to give a shit for your well being, book an AirBnB (or similar) in or around Duns or Berwick and come and find out for yourself. 1
