Video: Mad Max remade if the petrol really had run out? 80 Aussies go partying on bikes

Le Tour de Fridge took place in Perth on Good Friday

Imagine a remake of Mad Max - except in a world in which the guzzoline really had run out, so lawless gangs had to take to bicycles, but alcohol was liberally available. That's pretty much what you get in this (probably NSFW) video shot in Perth, Western Australia, on Good Friday of 80 or so male cyclists undertaking what was termed Le Tour de Fridge.

The video, posted to YouTube has had the Daily Mail [we read it so you don't have to - ed] spluttering about how the riders managed to "terrorise" the suburb of Ellenbrook, although it all seems rather tame compared to the events (based on a true story) depicted in the motorcyle gang-themed 1953 Marlon Brando movie, The Wild One.

Still, there's a certain disregard for the law on the part of the Aussie cyclists - not least for the country's compulsory helmet legislation - and there's perhaps more scenes of people, ahem, making room for more alcohol than is perhaps strictly necessary.

The words of a man who has, I fancy, never had a bottom-gear-and-handlebars-turned-90-degrees race or towed a git in a rubber dinghy at speed over a BMX ramp.

eh, I've seen worse organised crits.

It should be pointed out, though - ethanol makes a decent petrol subsitute.

Don't go suggesting alternative uses for ethanol! Us ugly people rely on it (and light you wouldn't choose a suit by) to breed. 19

Apart from a few participants (who were probably a bit sore the next day) no one was harmed, no one was inconvenienced, no one's property was damaged or destroyed and best of all a great time was had by all concerned.

Result. 4 24 4

And presumably nobody defecated on the village green. 21
