New bike ride app for London

Andreas Kambanis of LondonCyclist.co.uk blog releases app based on his recent eBook

If you live in London and you want some riding inspiration, then new help is at hand courtesy of the London Bike Ride app. The app is the brainchild of Andreas Kambanis, who blogs at www.londoncyclist.co.uk, and it's based on his recent eBook of London rides.

The app costs £1.79 from iTunes and is a step on from the eBook. "The rides have since been updated, new pictures taken and videos produced to show how the ride looks", Andreas told us. "Within a few hours it had reached the top two in the Sports category and it's trying to throw the Football app off the top spot!"

There's a wide range of different types of routes available all around the capital. All in all 30 routes are included, including canal pootles, hill climbs and off road excursions. Select a route and you can follow it with the iPhone's GPS, and points of interest along the way are pointed out. Even before you leave you can check out pics and videos of the routes to see what you're going to get.

Andreas is looking to expand the route directory over time, and also extend the reach to other cycling cities. But for now it's surely worth a punt if you're an iPhone user in the Big Smoke.
