Rapha Mobile Cycle Club comes to road.cc… take 2

This time in colour

It's not every day someone parks a mobile coffee bar and cycle club on the top of your favourite hill so as well as the moody black and white shots we published from the hill on Friday afternoon we thought we'd share some sunny colour ones too.

From the comments we've had a good time was had by all, certainly some very fine coffee was drunk, and some cycling chat had, there was even time for a bit of a group ride with semi-pros John Whittington and his mate Tav towing everyone round for a fast-paced out and back to Castle Combe.

All sorts of riders turned up around 60 in all - reflecting the wide-ranging nature of road.cc on all sorts of lovely bikes… there was a worrying (for some of us) number of fit buggers as well as the sprinkling of pros, semi pros, first cats and elites, James from Rapha looked pretty useful - he rode Paris-Brest-Paris this summer as did G-bitch the only person (apart from us) to turn up in road.cc kit… yes, your socks are in the post. He won the kit too. G-bitch also gets the prize for best entrance turning up last on a custom Paul Hewitt Audax… fixed pushing a 69inch gear. Oh, and he had a full pannier. Top marks indeed. The socks are in the post.

Thanks to Rapha for bringing the coffee, the very lovely caps and of course their cool Cycle Club (in association with IG Markets - my word they get everywhere). We all enjoyed it so much that we'll probably do it again soon… in fact we will, maybe somewhere near you.

road.cc's founder and first editor, nowadays to be found riding a spreadsheet. Tony's journey in cycling media started in 1997 as production editor and then deputy editor of Total Bike, acting editor of Total Mountain Bike and then seven years as editor of Cycling Plus. He launched his first cycling website - the Cycling Plus Forum at the turn of the century. In 2006 he left C+ to head up the launch team for Bike Radar which he edited until 2008, when he co-launched the multi-award winning road.cc - finally handing on the reins in 2021 to Jack Sexty. His favourite ride is his ‘commute’ - which he does most days inc weekends and he’s been cycle-commuting since 1994. His favourite bikes are titanium and have disc brakes, though he'd like to own a carbon bike one day.
