In a ‘we can’t believe we missed this' moment, Eddie Jordan, of Formula 1 fame, has launched an electric bike brand and two e-bikes. And yes, they are yellow.

The bikes are being manufactured in collaboration with D&D Electric, a Surrey-based retailer and manufacturer of electric bikes founded by Asad Khan.

Commenting on the collaboration, Khan said: “The combination of Eddie’s racing spirit and our focus on design has resulted in a range of bespoke e-bikes that look stunning and will, we believe, redefine urban commuting.”

So far there are just two bikes in the range, a men’s and women’s version (neither of which appear to be bespoke and both of which bear similarities to D&D's other e-bikes). Essentially, the women’s version is a step-through frame and the men’s, a step-over... how progressive. Otherwise, they’re urban focused bikes with a Wuxi Truckrun 250W rear hub motor, and a 460Wh battery. The company claims this will provide between 40 and 60 miles of range.

The motor has a maximum torque rating of 45Nm, and the removable battery is located in the downtube. Both bikes are equipped with a Shimano 8-speed groupset and mechanical disc brakes. 45mm Innova tyres adorn 700c rims, and you also get a front integrated light, a kickstand and some mudguards.

According to the D&D website, the Jordan e-bike, “embodies the pinnacle of electric bike performance”, and “thanks to its stunning yellow Team Jordan branding, it looks every inch the F1 race car on wheels.” (Luckily for Max Verstappen and co, the current generation of F1 cars do actually come with wheels.)

At 24kg they’re not the lightest e-bikes available in the urban market, but they're certainly some of the brightest. Both bikes are available to purchase now on the D&D website at a price of £2,995, which includes delivery.

A share of every sale of a Jordan e-bike will go towards the Amber Foundation, a charity Jordan is a patron of that helps disadvantaged young people in the UK.
