At road.cc every product is thoroughly tested for as long as it takes to get a proper insight into how well it works. Our reviewers are experienced cyclists that we trust to be objective. While we strive to ensure that opinions expressed are backed up by facts, reviews are by their nature an informed opinion, not a definitive verdict. We don't intentionally try to break anything (except locks) but we do try to look for weak points in any design. The overall score is not just an average of the other scores: it reflects both a product's function and value – with value determined by how a product compares with items of similar spec, quality, and price.

The Morvelo Women's Display Nth Series Race Jersey offers superb performance, good looks and excellent features in an accessible package. And it's handmade in Europe!

Made in part from Dri-Clim fabric from Spain, this full-zip jersey is designed to wick moisture and dry super-fast, making it excellent for hot weather riding. This über-technical fabric, made from three different yarns interwoven, is used on the back and under the arms, where it's needed most, and Morvelo claims it to be 67 per cent more effective at wicking and 23 per cent more breathable than its rivals. The front of the jersey uses a more traditional, close weave, yet still lightweight and breathable fabric, which is reputed to help improve aerodynamics.

Arm cuffs are laser cut, the front zip is full length and there's a strip of hem gripper at the rear hem. Three sizeable rear pouch pockets and a zipped security pocket that's just big enough to hold an iPhone 5 take care of luggage carrying.

The fit is one of the most forgiving I've ever come across, without being even slightly baggy or oversized (that's not me in the photos). It's just that the combination of the cut and the super-stretchy fabric mean that the jersey can accommodate all sorts of shapes and sizes, rather than catering only to an athletic ideal. Those hovering on the borderline of sizes might perhaps consider going down a size, and those with particularly slender upper arms might find the sleeves slightly generous. There's plenty of length in the sleeves and torso too, so taller ladies will approve.

Out on the bike, the fabric certainly seemed to wick well, and the result was a dry and comfortable ride even when working hard in really hot weather. Everything stayed put whatever my riding position and it was an exceptionally comfortable jersey.

Wearing it with the coordinating bib shorts, I felt like I had all the benefits of being a pro team rider, but with just a lot more style and self-expression.

Full marks to Morvelo for producing women's kit that makes a bold statement AND delivers on performance.

Verdict

Fantastic performance, great looks and well cut for all shapes and sizes. Superb!

Tell us what the product is for, and who it's aimed at. What do the manufacturers say about it? How does that compare to your own feelings about it?

Made for riders looking for high performance.

Morvelo says:

"Nth is our performance division. A place where we source the finest manufacturing processes, the highest performing fabrics and an obsessive attention to fine detail to create pro level clothing. Designed for speed. Built for abuse."

Tell us some more about the technical aspects of the product?

Morvelo says:

"We use two different types of unique fabric from Spain for our Nth Series jerseys. Dri-Clim® is an incredibly fast wicking micro-fibre polyester that we use on the back and underarm panels. This uses 3 different types of yarn interwoven to make sure the skin side remains permanently dry whilst the outer layer is an open weave to accelerate moisture evaporation. It wicks 67% faster and is 23% more breathable than it's rivals. As it's not a chemical treatment but instead to do with the unique weave and yarns, this will never wash out.

"A close weave on the front, arms, sides and shoulders improves aerodynamics whilst an open weave on the rear and underarms accelerates moisture evaporation. A side panel construction and set-in sleeves tailors the fit enabling the fast wicking properties of the polyester to work best. Details such as the lazer cut arms and silicone gripper in the hem to make it effortlessly comfortable. With an incredible array of features our Nth Series jerseys are hugely adaptable and durable."
