BrightLoc, a lock and a light combined, is crowdfunding on Kickstarter

We've seen helmets with lights, bar ends with lights, lights with extra lights... and now thanks to North Carolina-based start up Brightloc, it's time for a lock with a light. The hardened steel U-lock can attach to your front end or seatpost, combining a 360° lighting system to boot. And yes, it is of course crowdfunding on Kickstarter.

The lock is described as "tough-as-nails and watertight", with a keyed double deadbolt for maximum security. The headlight can pump out between 400 and 1000 lumens, so it's strong enough for unlit trails. It's a fully modular system, so the lights can be snapped on or off the lock's body quickly and easy when not in use.   

We're not sure on the weight yet** but will try to find out and get a test unit in should the crowdfunder be successful. Speaking of which, Brightloc have so far secured over £7,000 of their £12,000 crowdfunding goal with 31 days to go of their campaign. The US retail price is $120 but you can pre-order now for an $80 backing, and Brightloc will ship anywhere in the world. Click here to check out the Kickstarter page.
