Touring near Girona

Got a week planned touring from Girona in June. Was aiming to get into Andorra but looking at the road (only 1, and looks busy, seemingly in and out) think we'll avoid it. Does anyone have any tips for places to definitely go, and also avoid?

Looking so far at Girona-Berga-Tremp-Bagneres du Luchon-Ax les Thermes-Ripoli-Girona. Climbing is fine, hence the route. Any tips most welcome!

It's true from the south the roads are bigger, some stretches of dual carriageway and not the nicest for touring on. From the east you climb over Porte Puymorens instead of the tunnel and then its a single lane A road climbing into Pas de La Casa.
But you'll not be disappointed with heading north into the Pyrenees from Girona. Check Wikiloc for other cyclists routes, might be helpful.

Thanks Mr, er....Halo. Looking on streetview both ways in and out of Andorra look almost motorway like...not the case? Probably prefer to head north from Girona generally, try to get a few Pyrenean days in. We only have 6 days of touring.

2 ways into Andorra, from the south La Seu d'Urgell and from the east via Puigcerdá. Both can have some traffic but very beautiful. Go past Olot and there's stunning scenery. Or try going north from Girona towards Cadaqués along the coast and up to France. If you have plans to go towards Berga, could also swing south west and head towards Montserrat. So many options!
