Sounding the alarm: How noise hurts the heart
Loud road and air traffic has been linked to a greater risk of high blood pressure, heart attacks and strokes. Scientists are uncovering new details about how what you hear stresses the cardiovascular system.

A 2018 report by the World Health Organization noted that each year, western Europeans are collectively losing more than 1.6 million years of healthy life because of traffic noise. This calculation is based on the number of premature deaths caused directly by noise exposure as well as the years lived with noise-induced disability or illness.
And that number is likely to grow: In 2018, 55 percent of people lived in cities, and by 2050 that count is expected to reach nearly 70 percent, the United Nations estimates.

On noise in the city - I love the sounds from this video. Sounds noisy to start then you notice the people talking, walking, sounds of bikes passing, the rain. Finally a train puts it all in perspective. In many places in the UK you'd just hear traffic noise.
