Video: In the car with Orica-GreenEdge as Simon Gerrans wins Liege-Bastogne-Liege

Australian team celebrate huge win in 100th edition of cycling's oldest Monument...

It was a big day for Australian UCI WorldTour team Orica-GreenEdge yesterday as Simon Gerrans held off Movistar's Alejandro Valverde to win Liege-Bastogne-Liege, his second victory in a Monument following 2012's Milan-San Remo win.

Here's how the race unfolded from the team's perspective, with in-car cameras capturing the reaction of sports directors Matt White and Neil Stephens, as well as Gerrans' wife Rhana, who was following the race in a team vehicle. It's safe to say team staff and riders alike were rather chuffed with the way things turned out.

Simon joined road.cc as news editor in 2009 and is now the site’s community editor, acting as a link between the team producing the content and our readers. A law and languages graduate, published translator and former retail analyst, he has reported on issues as diverse as cycling-related court cases, anti-doping investigations, the latest developments in the bike industry and the sport’s biggest races. Now back in London full-time after 15 years living in Oxford and Cambridge, he loves cycling along the Thames but misses having his former riding buddy, Elodie the miniature schnauzer, in the basket in front of him.
