dhb launches ASV professional level clothing range

New clothing based on Team Wiggle Honda kit now available in a range of colours

Online retailer, Wiggle's in-house clothing label dhb has launched a new line of ASV clothing that it says is identical to the kit used by the Wiggle Honda women's race team, except with the corporate logos replaced with stylish angular colour blocks - oh, and the fact that there isn't as yet any women's specific kit in the range.

The range will start from £60 for a short sleeved jersey and £65 for bib shorts, so even despite the fact this is professional level racing clobber, dhb is remaining true to its roots of putting value first. This new kit is also evidence that dhb are being ambitous with their designs and colour schemes, following on from the Blok designs we saw back in the summer.

“Each of my athletes spend thousands of hours in the saddle each season, so it’s essential that all team kit is exceptionally comfortable, it must create as little drag as possible, breath and provide comfort. dhb took our continual feedback on board to create kit that helps propel our riders to the front of the peloton,” said Rochelle Gilmore, Wiggle Honda Pro Cycling manager, owner and rider.

The £65 ASV Bib Short is light with a claimed weight for a medium of just 171g. They are constructed from Lycra Sport 210g Italian fabric, which has a four-way stretch to provide a good fit and good range of movement, and offers a bit of compression too. The back of the shorts features a lightweight mesh to help keep you cool.

Inside is an Elastic Interface Endurance padded insert with a seamless microfibre surface layer said to provide an abrasion-free fit and with different density padding to put comfort where it’s really needed most. It’s also perforated for good breathability and ventilation.

The matching ASV Jersey is similarly lightweight with a claimed 120g weight for a medium short sleeve design. Aa well as the short sleeve version, it’s also available with long sleeves, making it ideal for the autumn.

Naturally, being a race-inspired jersey, it has a close-fitting athletic cut providing good aerodynamics. The material features Hydrofit wicking technology to move sweat away from the skin with an antibacterial treatment.

There are three rear pockets and in a sign of the jerseys professional racing roots, there is even routing for a radio - suppose you could use it for an MP3 player instead. There’s a small zipped pocket, a good place for your house keys. A full-length YKK zipper and 3M reflective detailing finish the jersey.

The short sleeve ASV jersey costs £59.99, the long sleeve is £64.99.

Finally, no wardrobe is complete without socks, and here are the ASV Socks. They’ve produced two version, a lightweight for warmer days costing £5.99, and a merino thermal sock for colder days priced £8.99.

The merino thermal sock is thicker than any other dhb merino currently offered yet with a slim fitting design and an ergonomic shape. There’s a Terry padded sole for added comfort and insulation. Black is the only colour offered with a choice of red, blue or yellow stripes.

Probably a bit late in the year to be talking lightweight socks, but the ASV lightweight socks say dhb are “ideal for warm autumn rides” and feature air mesh at the top of the sock, reinforced toe box and mid-foot support. Available in white with red, blue or yellow stripes.
