Video: Ghost Peloton, the amazing light show that wowed Leeds before Tour de France

Dancers and cyclists combined with LED light suits produce mesmerising effect

Ghost Peloton, which combined performance art with riding bikes accompanied by a spectacular light show, was one of the undoubted highlights of the Yorkshire Festival which preceded July’s Grand Départ of the Tour de France.

Playing to an audience of 2,000 people on two nights at a former brewery in Leeds in May, a video has now been released of the mesmerising performance which involved dancers from Phoenix Dance Theatre plus 30 cyclists.

Supported by Sustrans, Ghost Peloton was the result of a collaboration between Phoenix Dance Theatre and NVA, which designed the special LED light suits worn by the performers, and which it says “can instantaneously change colour, flash-rate and luminosity.”

You can find out more information about NVA’s Speed of Light project, which has been the subject of performances in Germany, Japan, Salford and Edinburgh, here.

Seen loads of NVA performances and this is in the top 5. It was great live and even better now it's shown as time lapse.

Very clever but the soundtrack is awful.
