Halfords.com receives around 1.83m monthly ‘brand searches’ according to the Bike Retailers Digital Insight Report. This makes it the most searched-for online UK bike retailer.
The research, carried out by digital marketing specialists Inside Online, sought to rank retailers according to how often web users searched for them by name.

Gooutdoors.co.uk was found to be the second most commonly searched, followed by decathlon.co.uk, evanscycles.com and wiggle.co.uk.
BikeBiz reports that two of those – Decathlon and Evans Cycles – have seen significant growth in their online visibility over the last year, as has Rutland Cycling. In contrast, On-One and Source BMX have seen little to no online growth.
It is of course worth pointing out that brand name searches are only one route into a website. Search traffic will also include a significant proportion who arrive via various product-related queries.

Thus concludes my detailed analysis on the usefulness of this report.
I didn't know they sold bike bits as they don't come up I my searches if I google for bike components.
Er no... Halfords is not the most searched for online cycling retailer. Amazon will surely beat it, they sell bikes/bike parts and their site will have massively more hits than Halfords...
You're probably right. The company who produced this 'report' is an SEO company and they alone selected which brands they'd include and which they'd leave out. So, it's of little value to the cycling industry but of great value to them because here we are talking about it and probably clicking on their website to try to learn more.
The clue is in the article BRAND searches, a bicycle related search rarely crosses over into car part searches (Peugeot don't sell bikes here currently for one example) GPS possibly one crossover.
That's a misleading figure if they include people searching for car parts etc.
Are they counting the searches for car parts, camping et al?
So thats why i keep getting a place that sells roof racks everytime i search for this bar
